This is the homily I delivered at the funeral of my friend Laurence O’Mahoney on June 28, 2019. The funeral took place at St. Joseph’s Abbey in Covington, Louisiana.

I felt both sad and lousy bringing my brother into the abbey with the other pallbearers. After Father Andrew’s homily, I was able to bring a smile to my face. The pain is still there, but there is also joy and hope. Thank you Father Andrew.
